# (6.11) Creating New Location

Location is essential. When creating a department, you need to describe the location of it. Therefore, before creating a department, you need to create the location.

1. Choose the **Department** module from the main menu on the left side.
2. Click **New**  from **Location**  in the action bar on the right.

  You will see a result page that looks like the following:

* Fill in these fields.
* Allowances are associated with Payroll.
* Click **Save** when you are finished.
